Residential Recycling
B&M is excited to announce we have been contracted by GFL Environmental to continue curbside residential recycling for Dryden and Sioux Lookout – Effective January 1, 2026.
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS: Recycle Collection
We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustrations regarding the new tote requirements for recycling collection. To try and clarify some confusion:
CMO (Circular Materials Ontario) is responsible for implementing and managing the new extended producer responsibility recycling system across all of Ontario.
GFL Environmental has the contract to collect for the NWO region. They have recently sub-contracted B&M to do residential collection for Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
GFL is in the process of deploying CMO stamped (95 GAL) roll-out totes. One tote to each household at no cost. This is a process coming with many bumps in the road. We are helping field enquiries for this process in the timeliest manner possible.
Under these new rules, CMO stamped (95 GAL) roll-out totes are the only containers B&M is permitted to pick up as of January 1, 2026.
Unfortunately, other carts, bins, and boxes cannot be collected. As well, all material must be inside the new tote. No additional cardboard, totes etc. will be collected.
These regulations are being rolled out across all of Ontario. With the short time frame and little information provided to you and us, we completely understand your frustrations as this rolls out.
Many questions are coming our way regarding what to do with old totes. We are in a similar position with hundreds of items of inventory on hand. Before being awarded this contract, we did not know that other compatible totes would not be accepted. Any ideas for uses are welcome!
Please note B&M is not currently accepting old totes/boxes or bins for return at this time. We are told CMO is working on a solution.
Kindly understand B&M has had no part or input in this initialization of the new recycling program being implemented province wide. We are simply providing the collection service.
We appreciate your feedback, and we will continue to do our best to help make this transition as smooth as possible.
